SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'The Chief Kim' has surpassed 15% viewership ratings within just two episodes after its premiere, setting a new record for the highest SBS drama ratings this year. The successful drama is attributed to the strong performances of actors including So Ji-sub, who returned to SBS after 13 years, along with Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho.

Premiering on the 26th, 'The Chief Kim' is a revenge action drama about an ordinary father who becomes a dangerous man to fight for his daughter's return. It is a 10-episode series based on a webtoon of the same name. The drama garnered significant attention even before its broadcast due to the reunion of So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, and Yoon Kyung-ho, and So Ji-sub's return to SBS after 13 years.

The drama has lived up to expectations with its viewership ratings. Starting at 9.5% for the first episode, it rose by 6.2 percentage points to 15.7% in just two episodes, marking the highest viewership rating for any SBS drama aired this year. Furthermore, surpassing 15% in two episodes is a record not seen in approximately five years, since 'The Penthouse 3' in 2021.

The drama is also receiving a fervent response not only domestically but also internationally. It ranked third in Netflix's Global Top 10 TV Shows, entered the TOP 10 in 90 countries, and secured the number one spot in eight countries. At the heart of this success are the solid storyline and So Ji-sub's compelling performance.

The drama centers on the story of Kim Bu-jang (played by So Ji-sub), an ordinary family man, who reveals his sealed past following the disappearance of his daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Soo-min). To find his daughter, who went missing after suffering from school violence, Kim Bu-jang reveals his identity as a legendary former special agent and embarks on a revenge mission.
