Lim Ji-yeon Wants "The Glory" Spin-off

Actress Lim Ji-yeon expressed her disappointment over the significant editing of the narrative of Kang Dan-shim and Lee Hyun-daegun from the Joseon Dynasty in the SBS drama 'A Wonderful New World', hinting at the possibility of a spin-off.

Appearing on SBS Power FM's '12 O'Clock with Joo Hyun-young' on the 1st, Lim Ji-yeon candidly shared her feelings about the extensive editing of the Joseon Dynasty narrative of Kang Dan-shim and Lee Hyun-daegun, in addition to the stories of Shin Seo-ri and Yoon Ji-ho. She stated, "The story of Dan-shim, before and after meeting Lee Hyun-daegun, and how she became a royal concubine and was forced to drink poison after their separation, wasn't fully depicted." She added, "Since Kang Dan-shim was my focus before researching Shin Seo-ri, I was disappointed that there weren't many scenes where Dan-shim was realized as a character," and "Actors go into scenes knowing the full context and imagining it, but compared to the extensive imagination, the actual scenes were few. It was a truly wistful, poignant, heartbreaking story, so I was disappointed."

In response, DJ Joo Hyun-young empathized, saying, "It would be great if a full version could be released later, even as a scriptbook," and listeners also showed reactions requesting a spin-off that tells the story of Dan-shim and Lee Hyun.

Regarding these requests, Lim Ji-yeon raised expectations by revealing, "We talked about it once at a recent cast dinner." She shared, "I jokingly asked them to elaborate on Dan-shim's story, and the writer responded positively, saying 'I'll consider it' because there was so much to tell." Although it's not a confirmed plan, as both the actors and the production team have expressed affection for the narrative of Kang Dan-shim and Lee Hyun-daegun, attention is focused on the possibility of a spin-off.

Meanwhile, Kang Hyun-joo, the writer of 'A Wonderful New World', praised Lim Ji-yeon and Huh Nam-joon in an interview. Writer Kang described Lim Ji-yeon as "the heart and driving force of this drama" and said, "She loved Seo-ri and this work with all her heart." Regarding Huh Nam-joon, she stated, "​He was the very success or failure of this romantic comedy," and praised him for "accurately targeting and hitting the complex and ever-changing charm of Cha Se-gye, a character as challenging as Seo-ri." She called both actors "​actors perfect in both skill and character," and expressed her feelings that meeting them in her first production was a miracle akin to 'Seo-ri in the height of summer'.
