Military Benefits for 4 Siblings in Korean Armed Forces

The 349th episode of the tvN variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' featured the first-ever four siblings serving in the Army, Navy, and Air Force, who revealed the advantages of being professional soldiers.

The four siblings, who enlisted in the military at their father's recommendation, stated that being professional soldiers "suits us better than we thought, and besides a stable salary, there are many partnership benefits like movie discounts and Samsung discounts." They also added that they can prepare for retirement through savings accounts with higher interest rates than those available to the public and military pensions. The youngest, Sergeant Kim Jun-won, said, "​Work-life balance is well maintained while working after commissioning."

Sergeant Kim Jun-won cited living apart from his older sisters as one of the best aspects of becoming a professional soldier. Knowing their family's financial difficulties, he sometimes felt his sisters' concern and advice were nagging. He also shared the hardship of his parents finding out about his girlfriends through his sisters.

Sergeant Kim Jun-won even blocked his sisters on social media. His eldest sister, Sergeant Kim Moon-jung, shared a humorous anecdote about being confused when Sergeant Kim Jun-won asked her, "Why aren't you blocked," since she wasn't blocked. She said she realized she had been blocked the next day when his social media stories stopped appearing.
