According to Nielsen Korea on the 28th, the second episode aired the previous day recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 15.7%, ranking first in overall Saturday viewership. This is a 6.2% increase from the first episode's 9.5% rating, and surpassing 15% within two episodes is a record not seen since 'Penthouse 3' in 2021, marking a five-year high. The highest momentary viewership rating soared to 18.1%, securing the top spot for mini-series in its time slot and for the week.

The drama 'Chief Kim' is based on a webtoon of the same name and depicts the transformation of the world's most ordinary father into the most dangerous being to reclaim his only daughter. So Ji-sub plays 'Chief Kim,' a former secret agent who was deployed in numerous special operations in the past, now disguised as an ordinary employee at a small and medium-sized savings bank. The second episode showed Chief Kim, upon learning that his daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Soo-min), whom he believed to be dead, is alive, shedding his facade as an ordinary family man and beginning to act to save her.
