SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Chief Kim,' starring So Ji-sub, is gaining immense popularity, surpassing 15% viewership ratings within just two episodes. According to Nielsen Korea on the 28th, the second episode aired the previous day recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 15.7%, ranking first in overall Saturday viewership. This is a 6.2% increase from the first episode's 9.5% rating, and surpassing 15% within two episodes is a record not seen since 'Penthouse 3' in 2021, marking a five-year high. The highest momentary viewership rating soared to 18.1%, securing the top spot for mini-series in its time slot and for the week.

The drama 'Chief Kim' is based on a webtoon of the same name and depicts the transformation of the world's most ordinary father into the most dangerous being to reclaim his only daughter. So Ji-sub plays 'Chief Kim,' a former secret agent who was deployed in numerous special operations in the past, now disguised as an ordinary employee at a small and medium-sized savings bank. The second episode showed Chief Kim, upon learning that his daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Soo-min), whom he believed to be dead, is alive, shedding his facade as an ordinary family man and beginning to act to save her.

Consisting of a total of 10 episodes, 'Chief Kim' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM on SBS and is also available on Netflix. The third episode is scheduled to air on the 3rd of next month. The drama is an action series about Chief Kim, who lived an ordinary father's life while working as a department head in a bank's accounting team, becoming the world's most dangerous man to reclaim his daughter Min-ji and embarking on a fight. The first episode revealed that Chief Kim was the legendary special agent 'Codename 66,' who carried out 17 infiltration missions, and that his true identity was exposed due to a school violence incident involving his daughter.

'Chief Kim' is based on a Naver webtoon and is a collaboration between writer Nam Dae-joong and director Lee Seung-young. In addition to So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Joo Sang-wook, Son Na-eun, and Seo Soo-min are also part of the cast.
