Yoon Kyung Ho's 13-Hour Silence Vow Grabs Attention

Actor Yoon Kyung-ho is drawing attention to whether he will keep his promise of "13 hours of silence" if the SBS drama 'Chief Kim' reaches 13% viewership. The second episode of 'Chief Kim', broadcast on the 27th, recorded a viewership rating of 15.7% based on Nielsen Korea's national household standards, breaking the highest viewership rating for an SBS drama this year. This is a 6.2 percentage point increase from the 9.5% recorded in the first episode, and it marks the first time in five years since 'The Penthouse 3' that a drama across all channels has achieved 15.7% within its first two episodes.

On the 28th, Yoon Kyung-ho posted a lengthy message on his social media, stating, "I think I'll be unable to speak for 13 hours, so I want to leave the words I want to say here in advance." He revealed that he recalled the promise he made at the press conference, saying, "​I don't know how to express my gratitude" for the drama surpassing 15% in viewership.

Previously, at the 'Chief Kim' press conference held on the 25th, Yoon Kyung-ho set a viewership target of 13% and made a promise: "I will undertake 13 hours of silent meditation." As the drama has far exceeded its target viewership, Yoon Kyung-ho's promise has become a reality.

Yoon Kyung-ho said, "If it were up to me, I'd want to practice silent meditation with gratitude from now on for 13 hours, but I'm currently on a trip with my family after a long time, so it's difficult right now." However, he added, "​As soon as I return, I will definitely try it for those who are waiting." He also mentioned fellow actors Na Eun and Choi Dae-hoon, eliciting laughter, and expressed his gratitude by listing the names of approximately 180 cast and crew members one by one.

'Chief Kim' is a revenge action drama about a man, a former special agent, who unleashes his hidden combat instincts to reclaim his only daughter. It is also garnering attention as So Ji-sub's return to an SBS drama after 13 years. The drama is based on a popular webtoon of the same name and shares the theme of a middle-aged man reawakening his deadly combat skills, motivated by his family.
