Ailee's IVF Journey: Latest Updates

Recently, an increasing number of celebrities have been openly sharing their experiences with preparing for pregnancy through in vitro fertilization (IVF). They are gaining empathy from many by sharing the physical and emotional difficulties they face in their earnest desire for a child.

Comedians Kim Ji-min and Kim Joon-ho revealed that they chose IVF over natural conception due to the realities of advanced maternal age. Kim Ji-min shared that after receiving ovulation induction injections in preparation for egg retrieval, she experienced physical changes such as a 3.5kg weight gain and body swelling. She added that although her weight decreased after the procedure, she still feels discomfort from swelling and other issues.

Ryu Seo, wife of Jun Jin from the group Shinhwa, also shared her IVF journey. She is taking various supplements for pregnancy and spoke calmly about her weight gain due to hormonal changes. Ryu Seo revealed that her desire to have a child became serious after experiencing anxiety when her husband was ill, which served as the catalyst for their second child plans.

Hwang Bo-ra also disclosed an experience of visiting the emergency room during her IVF treatment. Her entire body swelled severely after receiving growth hormone injections. Although the medical staff decided to stop the injections, her symptoms did not improve, leading her to seek medical attention. Despite the side effects, she decided to resume injections as follicles were not developing. She revealed a torn right cornea, requiring her to wear an eye patch, which evoked sadness.

Singer Ailee and her husband Choi Si-hoon are sharing their IVF preparation process through their YouTube channel. Ailee spoke about the challenges of injections administered by her husband every morning, and after egg retrieval, she experienced bloating, gas, discomfort, and constipation. She also expressed her difficulties, recounting an experience during a performance where her abdomen swelled and caused pain, preventing her from jumping on stage.
