New Employee Chairman Kang: How Many Episodes?

JTBC's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Intern Kang Chairman' is generating buzz with its premiere on May 30th. The drama is based on the popular web novel and webtoon by author San Gyeong and is planned for a total of 12 episodes. Expectations are high as Kim Soon-ok, the writer of the 'Penthouse' series, is participating as a creator.

The drama is a fantasy office comedy about Kang Yong-ho (Son Hyun-ju), the chairman of the conglomerate Choi Sung Group, known as the 'God of Business,' who, after an unexpected accident, possesses the body of a 20-something soccer player, Hwang Jun-hyeon (Lee Jun-young), and lives a second life. Chairman Kang will return to the company as a low-level intern and is expected to provide catharsis by confronting and rectifying internal absurdities and corruption.

In the first episode, Chairman Kang Yong-ho's sudden retirement announcement ignited a succession battle. Chairman Kang is credited with elevating the company from 20th to 10th in the business world, and his daughter Kang Jae-kyung (Jeon Hye-jin) and son Kang Jae-seong (Jin Goo) have long been fiercely competing for their father's approval. Attention is focused on the reasons behind Chairman Kang's decision to retire and the intense competition within the Choi Sung family that will unfold as a result.

The main characters include Kang Jae-kyung, the goal-oriented eldest daughter; Kang Jae-seong, the eldest son who suffers from inferiority due to his smaller capacity compared to his ambition; and Kang Bang-geul (Lee Joo-myung), the youngest daughter of Choi Sung Group, who joins as an intern while hiding her identity. Kang Bang-geul is expected to showcase a unique workplace chemistry with her father, Kang Yong-ho, who is inhabiting Hwang Jun-hyeon's body.

In the original webtoon, Chairman Kang Yong-ho, in Hwang Jun-hyeon's body, punishes corrupt executives, defends his management rights, and eventually merges Choi Sung Group with an investment company to establish the giant corporation SCQ, leading to a happy ending. While the drama follows the original's satisfying revenge and success story, it is expected to depict even fiercer family infighting by adding a plot point where the eldest son and daughter are involved in Hwang Jun-hyeon's accident.
