Heo Namjun Joins tvN Drama 'Whale Star'

Actor Heo Nam-jun will appear in the new tvN drama '​Whale Star'. 'Whale Star' is a love story set in 1926 Gyeongseong, about the maid Heo Su-a (played by Moon Ga-young) from a pro-Japanese collaborator family who saves the independence activist Kang Ui-hyeon (played by Choi Woo-shik) who fell into the sea, and it depicts the romance of youths in a turbulent era. The work is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name, which won the Presidential Award at the 'Korea Content Awards' in 2021.

Heo Nam-jun will play the role of independence activist Song Hae-su. Song Hae-su is a key figure leading the narrative of 'Whale Star', a fearless character who will stop at nothing for the cause of his country, and his will for independence is stronger than anyone else's. Heo Nam-jun has made a mark on the public through previous dramas such as 'The Matchmakers', 'Sweet Home Season 2', 'Sweet Home Season 3', 'Your Honor', 'The Caller', and '100 Years of Memory'. Recently, he captivated viewers and received overwhelming praise for his leading role in the drama 'Brave New World'.

'Whale Star' is drawing anticipation with its solid cast, including Choi Woo-shik, Moon Ga-young, Heo Nam-jun, Yoo Jae-myung, Kang Han-na, Kim Yeo-jin, and Gong Seung-yeon. Choi Woo-shik will play the role of independence activist Kang Ui-hyeon, and Moon Ga-young will play the maid Heo Su-a, working together. Heo Nam-jun will portray independence activist Song Hae-su, who lost his family in a massacre in Primorye, while Yoo Jae-myung will play Kang Ui-hyeon's father and pro-Japanese collaborator Kang Geun-hyeong, and Kang Han-na will appear as independence activist Han Yeon-gyeong. Kim Yeo-jin will play Hwang Soon-im, the spiritual pillar of the independence activists, and Gong Seung-yeon will make a special appearance as Yoo Yeon-hwa, the young lady Heo Su-a served.

The drama 'Whale Star' is co-directed by Director Hur Jin-ho, known for films like 'Christmas in August' and 'One Fine Spring Day', and Director Yoo Beom-sang of the dramas 'Twinkling Watermelon' and 'Study Group'. The original webtoon was serialized from 2019 to 2021, consistently receiving high ratings. 'Whale Star' is currently filming with the goal of broadcasting next year (2027).
