Kim Jang-hoon experienced severe anxiety because his instruments had not arrived before a performance in Paris, France, and as a result, he boarded the plane after taking panic disorder medication and 30 sleeping pills.

At the time, Kim Jang-hoon stated that he was not in a normal state due to extreme anxiety and emotional turmoil. He explained that he impulsively smoked on the plane, saying, "I wondered if a siren would really go off if I smoked because I was out of my mind." This caused an alarm to sound, and he was investigated by the police after landing.

During the investigation, Kim Jang-hoon admitted, "I could have said it was because of the medication, but I didn't want to make excuses," and acknowledged it was his fault regardless of the reason. He consistently maintained that he would not make excuses and added that he initially received a summary order for a 1 million won fine, which was later adjusted to 500,000 won.

This incident occurred on a Korean Air flight departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport in France for Incheon International Airport in 2014. Kim Jang-hoon was booked for violating the Aviation Security Act and was fined.
