Kim Chang-min Case: Outrage Over Controversial Remarks

The group assault incident that led to the death of the late Director Kim Chang-min is drawing public outrage due to the perpetrators' shocking remarks and subsequent actions. The Minister of Justice has personally stepped in, vowing severe punishment.

At the heart of the controversy is the statement made by one of the accused perpetrators: "My fists hadn't rusted. I hit him once, and he fell right over." This remark, seemingly boasting about the assault rather than showing remorse, further fueled public anger.

Questions have also been raised about the identities and backgrounds of the perpetrators. Online rumors suggested involvement with organized crime, but the alleged organization clarified that they were merely acquaintances and not members. Furthermore, one of the perpetrators is reportedly a fitness trainer, and another runs a delivery business. Testimonies have emerged indicating that they continued their daily lives as usual even after the incident.

There are also allegations that one of the perpetrators released a hip-hop track four months after the incident, containing lyrics such as "The pure me is already gone," and "​I've become a thug." The song was reportedly removed after the controversy escalated.

Controversy also persists regarding the investigation process. The police initially sought an arrest warrant for only one suspect, which was rejected. Subsequently, arrest warrants for additional suspects were also denied by the court, meaning the perpetrators are currently not in custody.
