Min Hee-jin's Controversy Over Infringement of NewJeans' Personal Rights

The Korea Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged tampering involving the group NewJeans. The KEMA's special committee for disciplinary action and ethical review stated that this matter is an unconventional practice that could undermine the foundation of the Korean popular culture and arts industry and shake the industrial base of the management sector.

The disciplinary committee expressed deep regret over the suspicion that Min Hee-jin, former CEO of ADOR, orchestrated the press conference announcing the termination of NewJeans' exclusive contracts. They pointed out that if true, this would constitute tampering, a chronic illegal and fraudulent practice in the entertainment industry. The committee emphasized that "Min should provide a clear explanation and take corresponding responsibility."

Furthermore, they demanded clarification on whether Min mobilized the members during contact with foreign individuals and who initiated discussions while the exclusive contracts were still valid. The disciplinary committee added that if these actions are true, they would constitute an infringement on the artists' personal rights and interests.

KEMA urged HYBE not to downplay this dispute as a personal conflict but to establish principles and create an opportunity to re-establish order in the entertainment industry. They also stressed that parties attempting tampering should be expelled from the industry.

Finally, the disciplinary committee defined this issue as a critical matter for preserving the sustainability of the K-pop cultural industry and called for a clear fact-finding and wise judgment from judicial authorities. They also stated their intention to actively respond to establish a management environment based on professional ethics.
