The issue was that the book in question was borrowed from a public library, and it was discovered that parts of the book had been underlined with a pen. As this fact became known, netizens raised their voices in criticism, calling it damage to public property.

As the controversy grew, Kim Ji-ho apologized via social media, explaining, "My habit of underlining books to remember the last parts of them came out with a book I borrowed from the public library." She also stated, "I will buy a new copy of the book or cover the cost."
Kim Ji-ho gained popularity appearing in dramas in the 1990s. She married actor Kim Ho-jin in 2001 and they have one daughter.
