News has broken that former baseball player Cho Sung-min has died by suicide, sending shockwaves through the public. This follows a series of tragic events, including the deaths of Choi Jin-sil, her younger brother Choi Jin-young, and now her ex-husband Cho Sung-min, all by suicide, drawing renewed attention to the tragic history of this family.
According to the Suseo Police Station in Seoul on the morning of the 6th, Cho Sung-min was found hanged in the bathroom of an apartment in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Cho Sung-min, a star player, married top star Choi Jin-sil, who was five years his senior, in 2000 during his time with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan. They held what was called the "wedding of the century." Although they seemed to be enjoying a happy married life, giving birth to their first child in 2001, after retiring from baseball in Japan in 2002 due to injuries and poor performance, his business failures in Korea led to a rift with Choi Jin-sil, and they separated. Ultimately, the couple divorced by mutual agreement in 2004, after 3 years and 9 months of marriage.

Choi Jin-sil, who debuted in 1988 and enjoyed a nearly 20-year career at her peak as a representative South Korean actress, was found dead in the bathroom of her Seoul home on October 2, 2008. The cause of death was determined to be cervical compression asphyxiation, and police stated that Choi Jin-sil had been suffering from depression. At the time, Choi Jin-sil was actively involved in various programs and commercial endorsements, so her sudden death came as a great shock to the public.
Before the shock of Choi Jin-sil's death had even subsided, in February 2010, her younger brother Choi Jin-young also ended his life.
