Girl group FIFTY FIFTY's hit song 'Cupid' copyright lawsuit: agency Attrakt loses appeal.

The Seoul Central District Court's 5-2 Civil Division ruled in favor of The Givers in the appeal of the copyright confirmation lawsuit filed by Attrakt against The Givers, stating, "We dismiss the plaintiff's appeal." The court determined that The Givers were the party to the copyright assignment agreement and that the rights acquired could not be considered as being for Attrakt's benefit.

Previously, the court had dismissed Attrakt's claim in the first trial as well. Attrakt had filed a lawsuit demanding the assignment of the copyright in 'Cupid,' which they claimed belonged to them, from The Givers. Attrakt is reportedly considering filing a further appeal against this ruling.

'Cupid' is a song released by FIFTY FIFTY in 2023 that garnered global attention, including charting on the Billboard charts. However, a dispute over the copyright ownership between The Givers, who produced the song, and the agency Attrakt led to legal action.

Attrakt claimed that The Givers secretly purchased the copyright without fulfilling their reporting obligations under the service contract and submitted false reports, stating, "This is an unacceptable outcome."
