Man Living with the King, Ten Million Challenge, All-Time Best

The movie 'The Man Who Lived with the King,' scheduled for release in 2025, is already generating buzz even before its premiere, with its trailer alone surpassing 15 million cumulative views. Directed by Jang Hang-jun, this marks his first historical drama and delves into the hidden story of Prince Danjong (played by Park Ji-hoon) and the village chief of his exile, Eom Heung-do (played by Yoo Hae-jin), set in Cheongnyongpo in 1457.

The film is drawing attention for shedding light on Prince Danjong's untold story for the first time in Korean cinema. The trailer reveals the film's intention to expand upon the historical tragedy surrounding Danjong by focusing on 'the time spent in exile' and 'the relationships formed there'.

The all-star cast, including Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do, is also at the center of the excitement. The actors' acting prowess and the compelling character arrangements are heightening expectations, with the sentiment that 'the casting itself foreshadows the narrative'. Yoo Hae-jin stated that he was drawn to the project because of "the parts not found in history books."

Director Jang Hang-jun decided to direct the film based on advice from his wife, screenwriter Kim Eun-sook, and shared that he wanted to assemble a lineup of unexpected and fresh actor combinations. Yoo Hae-jin was deemed the perfect fit for the role of Eom Heung-do, and Park Ji-hoon was cast as Prince Danjong after his performance and gaze in 'Weak Hero' were noticed.

Park Ji-hoon put in considerable effort for the role of Prince Danjong, learning archery and losing 15kg. He stated, "I focused on portraying the emptiness and helplessness he must have felt at such a young age."
