Bae Seong-woo was caught drunk driving in 2020 with a blood alcohol content that led to the revocation of his driver's license. The following year, he was fined 7 million won and withdrew from a drama he was appearing in. Filming for 'The Case of the Missing Girl' was completed in 2019, but due to the aftermath of Bae Seong-woo's drunk driving incident and the spread of COVID-19, the film will be released next month, seven years after its completion. The crime investigation film, scheduled to be released on April 2nd, is about two detectives who, while investigating a theft from a rural church's offering box, uncover clues to a closed murder case and begin a new investigation.

At the press conference for 'The Case of the Missing Girl', Bae Seong-woo once again expressed his apologies, stating, "I am deeply grateful and truly relieved that this film is being released and that I can stand here today." He also emphasized his hope that the hard work of the director, staff, and actors would not be overshadowed because of him.
Director Park Chul-hwan praised Bae Seong-woo's acting, and Bae Seong-woo shared his feelings about debuting at a later age.
