Lyn Praises Kwon Jin-ah's Voice

The market for Korean female solo ballad singers is dominated by established artists like Yangpa, Park Jung-hyun, and Baek Ji-young, with slow generational turnover. While Juniel and Baek A-yeon have shown promise, no distinct successor to IU has emerged.

Amidst this, three new female singers—Kim Ju-na, Nam Young-joo, and Kwon Jin-ah—have released new ballad songs around the same time, vying for the title of the next ballad queen. A common thread among them is their origin from audition or survival programs.

Kim Ju-na, who appeared on Mnet's 'Produce 101', released her debut single '​Summer Dream' on the 12th. This song is a soft-rock based pop ballad, produced by Ryu Jae-hyun of Vibe, and features Kim Ju-na's poignant vocals. Following the release of her debut song, Kim Ju-na has participated in music show performances and recorded for KBS2's 'Immortal Songs', marking a successful debut.

Nam Young-joo, a contestant from SBS's 'K-Pop Star 3', unveiled her new song '​The Sunlight is Blinding, Tears Fall' on the 13th. This song is a remake of a track by composer Park Sun-joo, and it highlights Nam Young-joo's emotional vocals and lyrics expressing longing for a past lover. It is a song well-suited for autumn listening, and there are no specific broadcast activity plans at this time.

Kwon Jin-ah, signed with Antenna Music, released her first full-length and debut album '​Funny Night' on the 19th. The title track, '​The End', is a ballad about a man and woman sensing the end of their relationship, composed by Ra.D and DEAR, and written by Yoo Hee-yeol. Kwon Jin-ah showcased her singer-songwriter abilities by including four self-composed songs on this album, and Yoo Hee-yeol lavished praise on her talent.
