K-drama Stars Byun Wooseok & IU's 10-Year Chemistry Revealed
At the production presentation for MBC's new drama 'The Princess of the 21st Century,' actors IU and Byun Woo-seok shared their thoughts on reuniting after 10 years. The two previously worked together in the 2016 SBS drama 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.' IU recalled Byun Woo-seok's role at the time, saying, "He played the role of my boyfriend who ran off with my best friend," and added that in this new drama, "He has returned with a fantastic character, determined to atone for his past mistakes many times over." She also expressed, "We worked together so comfortably that there were no awkward moments," and revealed her desire to work with him again even after another 10 years. 'The Princess of the 21st Century' is set in a constitutional monarchy South Korea and tells the story of chaebol heiress Sung Hee-joo (IU), who has everything but commoner status, and Grand Prince Lee Hwan (Byun Woo-seok), the king's son who has nothing. Along the way, Prime Minister Min Jung-woo (No Sang-hyun), Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang (Gong Seung-yeon), Grand Prince Lee Hwan's aide Choi Hyun (Yoo Soo-bin), and Sung Hee-joo's chief secretary Do Hye-jung (Lee Hyun) become entangled, forming diverse relationships.
