ITZY Yuna Solo Debut After 7 Years

ITZY member Yuna is releasing her first solo album, "Ice Cream," seven years after her debut. At a press conference held in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the 23rd, Yuna expressed her excitement for her new beginning as a solo artist, stating, "I feel as thrilled and nervous as I did the moment ITZY debuted." She added, "It's my first solo album in seven years, so the pressure is immense, but I also have a great desire to do well."

Yuna is the second member to embark on a solo career, following Yeji. She said, "Yeji unnie did such a fantastic job with her solo activities that I was positively influenced and prepared diligently." When she decided to debut solo, she confessed, "​I was a little scared and wondered if I could really do it, but during the preparation process, I discovered parts of myself I didn't know, and I gained courage and confidence through the support of the staff, members, and fans."

The title track, "Ice Cream," is a bubblegum pop genre that is as bubbly and addictive as chewing gum, carrying the message, "Let's not miss this moment of melting sweetly like ice cream and enjoy it to the fullest." Yuna revealed that when she first heard the song, "​I could imagine myself on stage," and she strongly felt that she wanted it to be the title track. She also described the song's mood by likening it to the excitement and happy memories of eating scoop ice cream at an amusement park.

In addition to the title track "Ice Cream," the album features a total of four songs, including "B-Boy," "Blue Maze," and "Hyper Dream." Yuna commented, "It wasn't easy to fill a single song with my voice in various ways, but in the process, it became an opportunity for me to grow even further." She also stated, "​I think my bright and natural energy is my strength," and expressed her desire to showcase this through her solo activities.

During the solo preparation process, she mentioned missing the members a lot, feeling like she had to fulfill the roles of five people alone, explaining the difference between group and solo activities. Yuna expressed her ambition to "​be remembered as an artist who has a positive influence on the public," and conveyed her wish to "​be recognized as the solo artist Yuna."
