MBN's 'Legend of the Unknown - Trot Men's Ranking War' Episode 5 featured the Team Death Match Round 1 Team Competition, followed by the Round 2 'Top Leader Match' where leaders are responsible for their team's survival. A diverse range of stages transcending the limits of trot, from stunt action to ballroom dancing, were showcased.

In the team competition, Kang Tae-kwan's team faced off against Kim Tae-woong's team. Kang Tae-kwan's team selected 'Love Sickness' and presented a stage with a shamanistic ritual concept, featuring hanbok attire and traditional Korean instruments. The members displayed solid vocal skills and poignant emotions, earning praise from the panelists with their accompanying traditional instrument performances. Kim Tae-woong's team responded with '​Men Sometimes', uniting the youngest leader Kim Tae-woong, the youngest participant Kim Han-yul, and the oldest member Pyeon Seung-yeop as the 'Trot Big Three'. The seven members delivered a dynamic performance with choreography and formations, and the audience cheered for the harmonious blend of the three generations, while the judges lauded it as "tear-jerking."

Next, the Round 2 Top Leader Match began. The Top Leader Match is a format where the leaders of both teams compete with the same song. Through a draw, the matchups were completed as Han Ga-rak vs. Sung Ri, Moon Eun-seok vs. Ryan, Ha-ru vs. Hwang Yoon-sung, Lee Dae-hwan vs. Park Min-soo, and Kim Tae-woong vs. Kang Tae-kwan. Ryan declared, "Thinking about the fate of my team members, this is a very heavy position," vowing to win.

The first match was between Top 3 leaders Ha-ru and Hwang Yoon-sung. Unlike Ha-ru, who was not in good condition immediately after the team competition, Hwang Yoon-sung shed tears, saying, "​The desire is equally great, but I feel sorry and regretful towards my team members that it became Hwang Yoon-sung's team." He resolved, "​I will do my best until the end to turn things around."

The winner of the fierce competition was Ha-ru's team, securing victory with a score of 632 to 405. Although Hwang Yoon-sung won the leader match, he lost the team match, making all his team members candidates for elimination. Ha-ru expressed his happiness, stating, "I'm so happy. This is my first time being a leader and stepping up like this," attributing the victory to his team members.
