The Boyz Younghoon Stars in 'Barun Yeon-ae'

The Boyz's Younghoon has been offered the role of Shin Jae-hyun in the drama "Love Path Finder" and is currently in discussions. The drama is based on a webtoon of the same name released on Naver in 2017 and depicts the campus life of a meticulous university student named Jung Ba-reum. Hwang In-yeop and Jo Yi-hyun are cast as Na Yu-yeon and Jung Ba-reum, respectively. Younghoon is expected to play a supporting male lead with a different charm from Na Yu-yeon, forming one corner of a love triangle. Younghoon, who debuted with The Boyz in 2017, has previously appeared in dramas such as "Love Revolution," "One the Woman," and "Gumiho: Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938." He is anticipated to embark on a full-fledged acting career with this new project. The drama's broadcast schedule is yet to be determined.

Younghoon of The Boyz describes himself as a "puppy-like" handsome man. While he doesn't particularly mind if his looks overshadow his skills, he wishes the public would pay more attention to his vocals. This was the reason he appeared on "King of Mask Singer" three years ago. He recalled doing many "cute things" to be loved, such as greeting people warmly and making ssam (lettuce wraps) for his family, as he grew up as the youngest. He explained that this is why he is called "Aegyo-ppae-shi" (meaning someone whose charm is inseparable from their aegyo, or cuteness) among the members.

The Boyz's first world tour in 2022 was an experience that made Younghoon truly feel "alive." He found solace from the dullness and doubt he felt performing without an audience to the tour, stating that the fans' cheers alone give him an endorphin rush. He recalled being surprised with a birthday celebration by fans at a face-to-face concert held at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena, which brought him to tears.

Younghoon revealed that while he has a quiet and contemplative side, he tends not to overthink things and tries not to worry too much. He also has a personality where he can easily move on from things once they are finished. He agreed with his fellow member Q, who mentioned in an interview that he envied Younghoon's ability to quickly forget and overcome difficulties, believing this personality trait suits his profession well.

Regarding the promotions for their new song "Whisper," Younghoon stated that although the preparation time was tight, they were able to achieve first place on music shows thanks to the fans' support, which he found very meaningful. He found it particularly special because it was the first time he received an award on stage with the fans present. He described the journey, which has been non-stop since "Road to Kingdom," as exploding offline, and he was able to overcome his regrets by truly feeling the popularity he couldn't sense when fans were not physically present.
