Actress Nam Ji-hyun once again proved herself to be a trustworthy actress in the youth historical drama 'My Dearest'. The drama depicted the romance between Hong Eun-jo (Nam Ji-hyun), a thief of illegitimate birth born between a slave and a nobleman, and Prince Do-wol, Lee Yeol (Moon Sang-min), a free-spirited prince. It received much love, recording a highest viewership rating of 7.7% and ranking fifth in TV drama buzzworthiness.

Nam Ji-hyun played Hong Eun-jo, who lives as a royal physician by day and the righteous thief Gil-dong by night, showcasing her presence by even portraying the role of her soul being swapped with Prince Do-wol, Lee Yeol. Regarding the viewership ratings, she stated, "I only thought about the project. The script was good, the director cast well, and I wanted to make it well because it was a project where good people gathered."

She continued, "I believe viewership ratings are given by heaven. I am proud that so many people watched our project. Personally, I am very satisfied. There is nothing I regret about this drama," adding that she believes the drama, being a youth growth story where the narrative of saving each other was well-expressed, transcends time.

Nam Ji-hyun described 'My Dearest' as "a role that allows for showing various aspects within a good story, so any actor would have coveted it." She explained that she strived to bring out the details through script readings, discussions, and rehearsals before filming.

She mentioned that she wanted to do even better as it had been a while since her last historical drama. "While '100 Days My Prince' was charming and focused on the love between two people, 'My Dearest' seems to have a greater weight because it contains the macroscopic aspect of saving and growing each other, and ultimately changing their world," she said, referencing the differences from her previous historical drama.
