Lawyer Reviewing Hwang Seok-hee's Statement

Translator Hwang Seok-ho has stated that he is currently reviewing the matter with his lawyer regarding reports of past allegations of sex offenses. Hwang Seok-ho announced on his social media on the 30th, "I am currently reviewing the relevant matters with my lawyer." He added, "If the reports contain factual inaccuracies, unconfirmed information, or expressions that go beyond the scope of legal judgment, I will consider issuing corrections and taking action."

Previously, the media outlet Dispatch reported that Hwang Seok-ho had been indicted twice for sex offenses in the past and was released on probation. According to the report, Hwang Seok-ho was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, suspended for two years, in 2005 for molesting and assaulting women on the street. In 2014, he was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for four years, for committing sexual violence against a student.

Hwang Seok-ho is considered one of the most famous movie translators in Korea, having translated numerous successful foreign films such as 'Warm Bodies', 'Deadpool', 'Searching', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', and 'Project Hail Mary'.

Meanwhile, following the report, some netizens have begun referring to negative issues arising for guests on the tvN variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' as the 'You Quiz Curse', and are speculating whether Hwang Seok-ho's case also falls under this phenomenon. Hwang Seok-ho has been active in various broadcast programs, including 'You Quiz on the Block', in the past.
