Hwang Young-woong Fans, Mature Fandom Culture

Singer Hwang Young-woong's solo performance at the Gangjin Celadon Festival is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees, leading to enhanced safety measures. This marks his first official external event since suspending activities three years ago due to school violence allegations. His agency, Golden Boys, has revised the estimated attendance from 8,000 to over 10,000. The organizers, agency, security team, and Gangjin County Office held an emergency safety meeting and decided to implement a 'Security Level 1' system, significantly increasing security and safety personnel.

Hwang Young-woong emphasized a mature fandom culture, stating that as this performance is a festival for the residents of Gangjin County, they are the main characters. He also expressed his intention to honor the spirit of the local festival by prioritizing seating for the county residents. Fans have also agreed to yield front rows to residents and watch from a separate area in an orderly fashion.

Hwang Young-woong, who withdrew from the 2023 audition program 'Burning Trotman' due to school violence allegations, recently denied these accusations. His agency explained, "It was the singer's decision at the time, out of concern that the public stage and fellow artists would be harmed," and stressed that "a significant portion of the currently circulating allegations are maliciously edited or unilateral claims for which the facts have not been confirmed." They added, "​Hwang Young-woong clearly states that while there may have been altercations or wandering among friends during his school days, he never continuously bullied anyone or engaged in sadistic acts as reported."

The agency released his middle school academic record, presenting phrases such as "Accepts others' opinions and is understanding, leading to improved peer relationships" and "Polite to teachers and has a well-rounded personality, resulting in active peer relationships."

Hwang Young-woong's participation in the Gangjin Celadon Festival event is also boosting the local economy. An estimated 4 billion won in local consumption, including accommodation, food and beverage, transportation, and tourism, is expected. Reservations at nearby accommodations and restaurants are mostly full. Over 170 tour buses wrapped with Hwang Young-woong's image are also set to operate.
