Lee Eun-ju's 21st anniversary memorial gathering for colleagues

It has been 21 years since the passing of actress Lee Eun-ju.

Lee Eun-ju tragically passed away on February 22, 2005, at the young age of 25. While the specific circumstances of her death were not clearly revealed at the time, she had been treated for depression and insomnia prior to her passing, and her suicide note expressed regret towards her mother.

Debuting in the 1997 drama 'Start,' the late actress established herself as a leading actress through works like 'KAIST' and 'Phoenix.' She gained widespread popularity, particularly for 'Phoenix,' for which she won the Top Excellence Award for an Actress and the Best Couple Award at the Drama Awards. She built her filmography with numerous projects, including the films 'Oh! Soo-jung,' 'Bungee Jumping for Your Marriage,' 'A Tale of Two Sisters,' 'Taegukgi,' and her final work, 'The Scarlet Letter.'

Despite the passage of time, the late actress's family and colleagues continue to commemorate her every year. Last year, at the 20th anniversary memorial service, her family and acquaintances, including actress Kim So-yeon and singer Bada, were present.

Kim Dong-sik, CEO of Namoo Actors, Lee Eun-ju's former agency, who attended the memorial service at the time, stated, "These are the unchanging people who gather every year to comfort Eun-ju's mother." He added, "They remember Eun-ju while sharing their individual memories with her mother." He further commented, "This gathering itself now feels like it has fostered a strong sense of family and camaraderie," and mentioned, "We plan to gather again soon in Yeouido when the cherry blossoms bloom."
