IU's Unseen 19-Year-Old Footage Released

Singer IU released an unreleased practice video recreating her look from the 2011 hit song 'You & I' to celebrate April Fools' Day. The video was a surprise gift that sent fans back 15 years in time.

The released video was uploaded to IU's official YouTube channel '이지금 [IU Official]' with the title '[IU TV] Unreleased Practice Video for 'You & I' from 15 Years Ago (The Day Before Comeback)'. In the video, IU appeared wearing the 'pen eyeliner' makeup, unique hairstyle, and stage outfits from her 2011 promotions.

This video went beyond simply recreating the outfits, adding detail by perfectly replicating the low video quality (720p) and aspect ratio from 2011. IU engaged in a skit, conversing with staff as if she had returned to her 19-year-old high school self, worrying, "I have my first broadcast on Music Bank tomorrow, can I do well?"

While getting her makeup done, IU joked, "It's so funny doing this makeup after so long. My eyes get so big," but then she portrayed the shy and quiet rookie singer from 2011, bringing laughter to fans. She also practiced the signature choreography of 'You & I,' the 'clock hand dance,' and delivered the line, "​If I become successful later, I'll be able to perform in places like a stadium in 10 years, right?" This created a touching scene, reminding viewers of IU's current status as a performer at stadiums.

Meanwhile, IU will appear in the drama '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife,' which premieres on April 10th at 9:40 PM. The drama is set in a constitutional monarchy in 21st-century South Korea and tells the romance story between Sung Hee-joo (played by IU), a chaebol heir who is a commoner, and Prince Ian (played by Byeon Woo-seok), the king's son who has nothing.
