Minister Choi Hwi-young, "The Roundup" Surpasses 10 Million Viewers

Choi Hwi-young, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, congratulated the film "The Man Who Lived with the King" on surpassing 10 million viewers and sent his regards to director Jang Hang-jun. Minister Choi expressed his gratitude by releasing a photo taken with director Jang on social media.

Minister Choi stated, "'The Man Who Lived with the King' is a slender thread of hope and a warm blessing for our film industry, which had been frozen like winter." He added that it is the 25th film in history to reach 10 million viewers and a remarkable achievement, the first in 661 days since 'The Roundup: Punishment' in 2024. He also congratulated director Jang Hang-jun, the cast, and the crew.

Minister Choi met with director Jang, presenting him with a congratulatory cake and a bouquet of flowers to express his appreciation. Director Jang responded with his characteristic humor, saying, "I suddenly woke up with a jolt, and I wish it wasn't all a dream."

Minister Choi sent a message of encouragement to the film industry, saying, "Our films are now beginning to stretch out with such vigor. Let's go, Korean cinema fighting!"

"The Man Who Lived with the King," set in Cheongnyongpo in 1457, depicts the story of the young King Danjong and the villagers. It surpassed 10 million cumulative viewers in just 31 days after its release.
