SG Wannabe's Full Group Releases New Song After 15 Years

The group SeeYa, which represented the K-pop scene in the 2000s, is making a full comeback after 15 years to celebrate their 20th debut anniversary. They will release their pre-release single 'Despite Us' on the 30th and their full album in May, marking their official return to activities. This marks their return 15 years after announcing their disbandment in 2011, and their first full album in 18 years since 2008.

The pre-release single 'Despite Us' is a ballad song in which the members participated in the lyrics, capturing the past 20 years and the meaning of their reunion. The deepened vocal colors and harmonies of the three members, Nam Gyuri, Kim Yeonji, and Lee Boram, are expected to deliver an emotional experience. Producer Park Geun Tae, who led them during their peak, participated to maximize the emotional impact, and the full album also features composers like Park Geun Tae and Kim Do Hoon, who led them during their golden age, to enhance its quality.

Regarding the pre-release single, SeeYa stated, "We poured all the stories we've kept buried in our hearts for 20 years into this song," adding, "Throughout the recording, the past times flashed before my eyes like a montage, and I couldn't stop crying. We sincerely hope our true feelings reach the fans who have waited so long."

Upon their debut in 2006, SeeYa received immense love for their ballad songs that maximized emotional expression, such as 'Scent of a Woman,' 'Love's Greeting,' 'Shoes,' and 'Song of Crazy Love,' sweeping various awards ceremonies. At the time, they succeeded as a three-member female vocal group in a market dominated by male ballad groups, and were evaluated as a milestone for vocal-oriented girl groups.

However, the team's journey was not smooth. After original member Nam Gyuri left in 2009, they continued with new members, but lost momentum and announced their disbandment in 2011. Since then, female vocal groups following in SeeYa's footsteps have struggled to emerge.
