Online controversy is brewing over the price of "Kurol," a portable hair roller launched by actress Goo Hye-sun. "Kurol" is priced at 13,000 won per unit, with a set of two selling for 25,000 won. Shipping fees are separate.

Some online communities have reacted by comparing "Kurol" to the prices of regular hair rollers (400-500 won, with high-end products ranging from 4,000-5,000 won), deeming "Kurol" to be expensive.

Goo Hye-sun's side explained that the higher price of "Kurol" is due to the special material that flattens for portability and bends into a circular shape, along with a four-stage processing manufacturing process, which significantly increases production costs.

While buyers are generally satisfied with the product, they have expressed some disappointment regarding the price. One buyer commented, "It's a shame there's no size adjustment feature, but it's convenient to carry in my bag." Another buyer evaluated, "​It's easy to carry and creates good volume. However, the price is a bit disappointing." Another review stated, "​The high price is a drawback, but its small size makes it good for portable use."

Meanwhile, Goo Hye-sun pursued a master's degree in engineering at KAIST after graduating from Sungkyunkwan University, graduating early. She was also selected as an outstanding performer at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology's Graduate School of Science Journalism. "Kurol" was selected as a recipient of an excellent patent award in 2025.
