K-Pop Demon Hunters Wins Two Oscars

Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' won two awards at the 98th Academy Awards, taking home the Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song awards.

Director Maggie Kang said in her acceptance speech, "I dedicate this award to Korea and Koreans around the world," adding that the next generation would not have to wait.

Singer Lee Jae, who performed the K-pop song 'Golden' that won Best Original Song, said, "​This song is about recovery, not success." Recalling her childhood experience of being teased for liking K-pop, she expressed her feelings, "​Now everyone is singing our songs. I am proud."

Since its release, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has surpassed 500 million cumulative global views, marking the highest box office performance among all Netflix content to date. Additionally, the OST 'Golden' became the first K-pop song to top the Billboard Singles Chart 'Hot 100' and the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100'.

This work had already received critical acclaim and global popularity, winning the awards for Best Animated Film and Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards, and the award for 'Best Song Written for Visual Media' at the Grammy Awards.
