Actress Shin Hye-sun has once again successfully transformed her acting by taking on the role of 'Sarah Kim,' a woman who wanted to create counterfeit luxury goods, in the Netflix original series 'Lady Doua'. In an interview, Shin Hye-sun revealed her satisfaction with the project and her deep understanding of the character.

'Lady Doua' tells the story of Sarah Kim, a woman who wanted to become a luxury brand, even if it was fake, and Moo-kyung, a man who tracks her desires. Since its release, the series has gained immense popularity, ranking first in Korea's TOP10 series and appearing in the global TOP10. Shin Hye-sun commented, "I watched it quite enjoyably myself," adding, "There were parts I didn't film, and initially, I watched with tension, wondering about things I couldn't know, like the music or scene transitions. But I enjoyed watching it, so I thought the post-production team must have worked very hard."

In this project, Shin Hye-sun played one person living multiple identities: Sarah Kim, Mok Ga-hee, and Kim Eun-jae. Regarding the character Sarah Kim, she explained, "​Ultimately, what she wanted was to create herself. A high-class self. As she went through that process, there was deception involved, so she felt emptiness in the pursuit of her desires. The closer she got to her dream, the more she felt a void inside." She conveyed that she aimed to express a feeling of emptiness within, despite appearing passionate and energetic on the outside.

In the drama, Sarah Kim lives a glamorous life as the general manager of a high-end brand called Doua, but in reality, she was an undocumented individual, leading to multiple changes in her identity. Shin Hye-sun analyzed Sarah Kim's life, stating, "It was a combination of a distorted sense of chosenness and superiority. She likely wanted to be in a position of power, bestowing favors from above. Through that, she was born with a tendency to feel her own significance, believing she was truly a great person." She added, "​Her most desired life was probably to enjoy the leisure that comes from having everything. Wanting to be superior to others."

Regarding the criticism that Sarah Kim's past narrative was insufficient, Shin Hye-sun responded, "Since this is not a narrative drama detailing Sarah Kim's life story, I personally believe it was appropriate to start from the middle to discuss the theme of fakeness versus reality." She further elaborated, "​There was also an intention not to make the audience feel too much sympathy or pity for the character of Sarah Kim. We decided not to deliberately evoke those feelings." She added that it would be more interesting for viewers to imagine Sarah Kim's past before the events of the drama.
