Apology for the cancellation of the "Eyes of Dawn" performance

Regarding the last-minute cancellation of the musical 'Eyes of Dawn,' lead actor Baek Sung-hyun apologized on behalf of the cast. The performance was suddenly canceled due to a boycott by some actors, with the production company citing internal reasons. This also led to the cancellation of a free performance for 1,000 firefighters and their families, which Baek Sung-hyun had proposed.

Baek Sung-hyun expressed his deepest apologies to the audience and invited firefighters via his personal social media, stating that as the lead actor, he feels a heavy sense of responsibility for the disruption of the performance. He asked for understanding, explaining that the situation stemmed from structural issues between the production company and the actors, and that his fellow actors had no choice but to make a difficult decision to fight for their rights.

Baek Sung-hyun emphasized that he is working hard for his stage, promising to repay the audience with his name if they return for a future performance. Although he was not scheduled to perform in the canceled show, it appears he posted his message out of a heavy heart, both as the lead actor and as the proposer of the invitation for firefighters' families.

The musical 'Eyes of Dawn,' set against the backdrop of modern Korean history, depicts love and the pain of the era. It was recognized for its artistic merit during its premiere in 2019. The decision to extend the run was recently made, and Baek Sung-hyun joined the cast as the male lead, Dae-chi Choi.
