Actress's Depression: 13 Years After Tragedy

It has been 13 years since actress Kim Soo-jin passed away. She ended her own life on March 29, 2013, at the age of 38, at her home in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It is known that her then-boyfriend discovered her body and reported it to the police.

Kim Soo-jin, who debuted in the 1994 SBS drama 'Challenge,' gained recognition for her impressive acting in dramas such as 'City Men and Women' and 'Soonpoong Clinic.' She particularly garnered much attention for her tall stature and exotic looks.

In the late 1990s, Kim Soo-jin halted her entertainment activities and moved to Australia. After returning to Korea, she attempted a comeback. In an interview with a media outlet after her death, Kim Soo-jin's manager stated, "She ran a restaurant in Australia, but it didn't go well, so she returned to Seoul. However, she was defrauded by her former manager." The manager also expressed sorrow, saying, "She drank frequently and suffered from depression."

The manager revealed that Kim Soo-jin's depression worsened as a film she was preparing for a comeback was never shot and its schedule was postponed. She also suffered from financial hardship. He added that she had not been able to do any significant work for the past three years and had focused solely on managing her physical condition by exercising at home. According to the Gangnam Police Station, a suicide note was found at the scene containing messages such as "I'm sorry" and "I've been suffering from depression, so it's difficult."
