Man Living with the King Surpasses 9 Million Views

The movie 'King and the Man' has surpassed 9 million cumulative viewers in just 27 days since its release, putting it on the verge of reaching 10 million viewers. This achievement comes just one day after it surpassed 8 million viewers on the 26th day of its release.

While 'King and the Man' took 5 days to reach 1 million viewers in its early release, the number of viewers surged rapidly as word-of-mouth spread. It surpassed 3 million on the 14th day, 5 million on the 17th, 6 million on the 20th, 7 million on the 24th, and 8 million on the 26th. In just one day after reaching 8 million, it exceeded 9 million, continuing its overwhelming box office success.

If this movie surpasses 10 million viewers, it will be the first 10-million-viewer film in approximately two years since 'The Roundup: Punishment' in 2024. Additionally, among historical dramas, it is set to be the fourth film to surpass 10 million viewers, following 'King and the Clown', 'Masquerade', and 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents'.

With this box office success, director Jang Hang-jun and actors Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do will earn their first 10-million-viewer film title. Notably, Park Ji-hoon will become a 10-million-viewer actor with his debut feature commercial film. For Yoo Hae-jin, this will be his fifth 10-million-viewer film.

Director Jang Hang-jun had previously joked on a broadcast that if the movie surpassed 10 million viewers, he would "change my phone number, my name, and get plastic surgery. I'm even considering naturalizing so no one can recognize me." With the 10-million-viewer mark approaching, attention is turning to whether he will fulfill his unconventional promise.
