Junji Ito Confirms Wonyoung Resembles Tomie
Renowned Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito has acknowledged IVE member Jang Wonyoung as resembling his character 'Tomie,' stating that he "likes her."
This revelation came in a video released on the YouTube channel 'Neighborhood Friend Kangnam' on the 25th. In the video, Kangnam told Junji Ito, "The most popular person in Korea really resembles your work 'Tomie.'"

When asked who this person was, Kangnam replied, "It's Jang Wonyoung of IVE, who is very popular in Japan." Junji Ito responded that he already knew Jang Wonyoung, and as Kangnam repeatedly emphasized the resemblance, Ito appeared to agree.

When Kangnam said, "Since you mentioned Tomie is your type, I think you'll like Jang Wonyoung too," Junji Ito frankly replied, "I like her," drawing attention.
Junji Ito explained that 'Tomie' was his debut work, created about 40 years ago, and that the character's setting of around 15 years old at the time would translate to a 55-year-old in today's terms, eliciting laughter. Kangnam remarked, "Tomie is like Jang Wonyoung today," expressing admiration for Junji Ito for creating such a character.
