Wangsa-nam, Tiger CG Revision Work
The tiger computer graphics (CG) in the movie 'The Moon Rising Over the Palace' are expected to be revised. Distributor Showbox announced that the CG production company has expressed its intention to reflect an improved version by the time of its IPTV release, and is currently working on it independently. However, it is undecided whether the revised version will be reflected in the theatrical release.
'The Moon Rising Over the Palace' continues its box office success, surpassing 10 million viewers on its 31st day of release on the 6th, with a cumulative audience of 11.7 million by the 9th. While the actors' performances and the narrative depicting the final moments of King Danjong received critical acclaim, issues such as the low-quality tiger CG were pointed out.

In a pre-release interview, director Jang Hang-jun said, "The life of CG is time. It takes months to work on it," adding, "Rendering time is enormous to express tiger fur, and there wasn't enough physical time to make revisions." Co-producer Jang Won-seok also explained, "The release date was moved up from the original schedule. In that process, there wasn't enough time for post-production."

'The Moon Rising Over the Palace' is a historical drama set in 1457 in Cheongnyeongpo, depicting the story of a village chief who voluntarily chose exile for the revival of his village and a young former king who was banished from the throne. Starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Jeon Mi-do, and Yoo Ji-tae, the film continues its box office surge amidst audience acclaim, showcasing a cross-generational acting ensemble.
A video on the YouTube channel 'Im Soo-yeon's Bae San Im Soo' explained the background, stating, "There were parts where there wasn't enough working time as the release date was moved up a bit from the original plan." It continued, "The reactions from the blind preview were good, and we judged that it would be competitive in theaters during the Lunar New Year holiday, so the release was decided earlier than scheduled." The video also shared news that "the CG team is still continuously revising the tiger scenes," adding, "The movie doesn't end with a theatrical release; there are still ancillary rights and releases on other platforms, so the CG work is continuing with those aspects in mind."
