Kim Nam-gil, Image Change for the Role of Sooyang
Actor Kim Nam-gil expressed his burden regarding the role of Suyang-daegun in his upcoming film, "Mongyudowondo." In a video released on the YouTube channel "TteunTteun," he revealed that he is preparing for "Mongyudowondo" with Park Bo-gum.
Kim Nam-gil is currently playing the role of King Sejo in director Jang Hang-jun's film "The King and the Clown," and he stated that he is worried this might undermine his efforts to avoid objectifying Suyang-daegun in "Mongyudowondo." He explained the difficulties of overlapping worldviews, as both films deal with the same historical period.

Yoo Jae-suk summarized Kim Nam-gil's concerns, saying, "It seems Kim Nam-gil has a specific portrayal of King Sejo he wants to express, and with 'The King and the Clown' being successful, he's worried about the gap between the image of King Sejo the audience perceives and what Kim Nam-gil intends to convey."
Meanwhile, the film "Mongyudowondo" tells the story of brothers Suyang (Kim Nam-gil) and Anpyeong (Park Bo-gum), who begin to dream of different utopias after the completion of the painting "Mongyudowondo," which depicts dreamscapes.
