Lee Chung-ah, Courage Learned from Hwang Hyun-jin

Actress Lee Chung-ah, who played Hwang Hyun-jin in the ENA drama 'Honor: Her Legal Battle,' shared her thoughts, stating, "Looking at Hyun-jin, I realized that showing vulnerability with courage can be so lovely." She added that she learned a lot from the character, who strives not to fear mistakes and not to be cowardly.

'Honor' is a mystery thriller about three female lawyers confronting a massive scandal. Lee Chung-ah took on the role of Hwang Hyun-jin, an action-oriented lawyer, working alongside Lee Na-young and Jung Eun-chae. The drama concluded with its highest viewership ratings, reaching 4.9% in the Seoul metropolitan area and 4.7% nationwide. Lee Chung-ah expressed her satisfaction with the rising ratings, saying, "I was happy to hear many people around me say they were watching it well."

The drama addresses issues closely related to reality, such as online platform-based sexual exploitation, corruption among the powerful, and cartels. Lee Chung-ah commented, "I believe it had a positive impact just by viewers of 'Honor' taking an interest in similar issues," and stated that the drama's strength lies in "​making viewers ponder, 'What would I have done in that situation?' through the events and characters."

In the drama, Hwang Hyun-jin, a martial arts black belt, performed action scenes. Lee Chung-ah recalled that her experience learning various sports in her childhood made the action acting not difficult, adding, "I played many characters who did martial arts in my 20s, and while doing this role, I thought, 'My skills haven't died out, have they?'"

Through 'Honor,' Lee Chung-ah challenged herself with a character of a different caliber than before. She said, "I wanted to play a character more closely connected to everyday life," and explained that she chose the project because the script was easy to read and the story had power. Looking ahead, she showed an open attitude, saying, "​New genres seem like they would be fun, and even in similar genres, if it's a character that reflects societal changes or can showcase good performance, I'm willing to try anything."
