As of March 16th, it recorded a cumulative audience of 13,601,732, surpassing the previous records held by '12.12: The Day' (13,128,080 viewers) and 'Veteran' (13,410,000 viewers), which were the previous highest-grossing Korean films.

'The King and the Man' has now ranked 5th all-time in the Korean film box office rankings, following 'The Admiral: Roaring Currents', 'Extreme Job', 'Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds', and 'Ode to My Father'.
