Director Jang Hang-jun's Film Hits No. 2 at Box Office

The movie 'The King and the Man' is continuing its box office success, surpassing 15.78 million cumulative viewers. With approximately 220,000 more viewers needed to reach 16 million, the milestone is expected to be hit this weekend. Furthermore, it has recorded the highest revenue for a Korean film of all time, exceeding 152.2 billion won as of the 2nd. In its ninth week of release, it remains at the top of the box office and boasts a high pre-sale rate.

'The King and the Man' surpassed 15 million viewers in 50 days of release and currently holds the third-highest box office record of all time. It is predicted to surpass the record of 'Extreme Job' (16.26 million viewers), which is the second highest of all time, drawing industry attention to whether director Jang Hang-jun will become the second highest-grossing director after director Kim Han-min of 'The Admiral'.

The movie 'The King and the Man' tells the story of a village chief who volunteers for exile to revitalize his village in 1457, and a young former king who was exiled after being ousted from the throne.

'The King and the Man' is aiming for the second-highest box office spot of all time, with the 16 million viewer mark within reach. Currently, it is about 480,000 viewers short of 'Extreme Job', which holds the second-highest cumulative viewership of all time. If the trend of attracting 50,000 to 60,000 viewers on weekdays continues, it is expected to surpass 16 million viewers this weekend. It is predicted to reach the second-highest spot of all time as early as Sunday the 5th, or by early next week at the latest.

Released on February 4th, 'The King and the Man' has maintained its box office dominance, fueled by word-of-mouth from Lunar New Year holiday audiences, and continues to hold the number one spot on the box office charts.
