Author Kim Jin-myung said, "In times of crisis, we must think of Sejong again," adding, "Sejong was a leader who established the concept of a nation with the belief that a country that does not serve its people is not a nation." He also revealed that he dedicated the book with the belief that "when people with the highest skills in each field do their best in their respective positions, South Korea can also find a new path."

He quoted from Sejong's preface to Hunminjeongeum, explaining, "Sejong created a new script for the people, saying, 'The sounds of our language are different from those of China, and therefore, many common people have no way to express their thoughts.'" He continued, emphasizing, "That spirit is precisely the message that our self-centered society today must reconsider."

The novel "The Nation of Sejong" deals with the political tensions and human conflicts during King Sejong's creation of Hunminjeongeum, newly illuminating the historical moments of the Sejong era by depicting the interconnectedness of script, knowledge, and power.
