The production company of the film 'The Man Who Lived With the King,' Onda Works, has refuted allegations of script plagiarism, stating "it is groundless." The company emphasized that the work is a purely original creation based on historical facts, and that the entire creative process is thoroughly documented with contracts and meeting minutes, thus having no causal relationship with other copyrighted works.
In the past, the bereaved family of the scriptwriter for the drama 'Eom Heung-do' claimed that the main settings and content of 'The Man Who Lived With the King' were similar to the deceased's script and demanded an explanation from the production company. The family argued that the "fictional" elements, which add imagination to historical facts, such as the scenes of Danjong eating, the scene of him jumping off a cliff, the setting of Eom Heung-do's children, the setting of palace maids, and the scene of the son being dragged to the government office, were similar.

Im Eun-jung, CEO of Onda Works, addressed the plagiarism allegations, stating "it's a story about the planning process," and revealed that the entire creative process is recorded in contracts and meeting minutes, making it provable. Regarding the inclusion of the late Lee Sun-kyun's name in the film's credits, she explained, "it is difficult to confirm him as someone who actually provided help, and it was not shared within the team."
