BTS Arirang Tops Billboard Charts

Group BTS's 5th full-length album 'ARIRANG' has topped the US 'Billboard 200' album chart. This marks the group's conquest of the top spots on the world's two major charts, following their success on the UK Official Charts.

'ARIRANG' recorded 641,000 album units during the chart tracking period, setting an all-time record for a group since Billboard began tracking album units on the 'Billboard 200' in December 2014. Of these, album sales reached 532,000 copies, marking BTS's seventh career No. 1 on the 'Top Album Sales' chart. SEA units, which convert streaming counts into album equivalents, were 95,000 units, the highest streaming performance for any BTS album to date.

Billboard explained that BTS recorded the most album units since Taylor Swift last year. Notably, out of the 532,000 album sales, physical albums accounted for 516,000 copies. Of these, LP sales reached 208,000 copies, marking the highest LP sales for a group since tracking began in 1991 and the sixth highest weekly LP sales of all time.

This is BTS's seventh No. 1 on the 'Billboard 200'. Previously, they reached the top of the chart with 'Love Yourself: Tear' (2018), 'Love Yourself: Answer' (2018), 'Map of the Soul: Persona' (2019), 'Map of the Soul: 7' (2020), 'BE' (2020), and 'Proof' (2022).

BTS is also challenging for the top spot on the US Billboard main singles chart, the 'Hot 100', with the title track from their 5th album, 'SWIM', with the results expected as early as the morning of the 31st.
