Hong Seo-bum & Jo Gap-gyeong's Son Divorce Official Statement

Singer Hong Seo-bum and Jo Gap-gyeong have released an official statement regarding the controversy surrounding their son's divorce lawsuit. Amid conflicting claims from both sides, the couple acknowledged their parental responsibility and apologized.

In a statement, Hong Seo-bum and Jo Gap-gyeong said, "We bow our heads and sincerely apologize to the public for causing disappointment and inconvenience due to the recently reported divorce lawsuit involving our son." They also stated that upon returning to Korea, they personally reviewed relevant documents such as the court ruling and heavily confirmed discrepancies between what they had been told and the actual situation.

The couple admitted, "We believed in respecting the privacy and autonomy of our adult son and did not intervene in the divorce process. However, as a result, our shortcomings as parents in not closely examining our child's faults were significant." They added that they sincerely regret not setting a good example as public figures.

Regarding future actions, they stated, "We will strictly guide our son through his legal representative to ensure that obligations from the first trial ruling, such as child support and alimony, are promptly fulfilled." Furthermore, they said, "We fully respect the other party's decisions regarding our granddaughter's birth and upbringing, and we will watch over our son to ensure he fulfills his responsibilities as a father."

This controversy began with the divorce and alleged infidelity between Hong Seo-bum and Jo Gap-gyeong's second son and his ex-wife, and it escalated with eyewitness accounts and revelations from students. The ex-wife claimed a relationship with a teacher from the same school as her husband and won a partial victory in the related lawsuit, receiving an order for 30 million won in alimony and 800,000 won per month in child support.
