Park Min Young Exposes Chaebol Chairman Corruption

In the 8th episode of the tvN drama 'Siren,' Han Seol-ah (played by Park Min-young) and Cha Woo-seok (played by Wi Ha-joon) investigated a crime involving passing off forgeries as genuine artworks for profit.

Cha Woo-seok questioned Han Seol-ah about an incident similar to the one his brother experienced, stating, "Except for the passenger seat being the only part of the accident that caught fire after hitting a retaining wall on a curve near an interchange, everything else is the same." He mentioned that criminals tend to repeat familiar methods and revealed he wanted to confirm if it was the same person's design.

Cha Woo-seok presented paintings to Han Seol-ah and asked for her help. Han Seol-ah revealed that these paintings were works she had auctioned. She explained that the actual owner of the pieces she had put on display at overseas galleries was her company's chairman, and that the gallery was a shell company.

Han Seol-ah confessed that she selected artworks with potential value from wealthy families to profit from the price difference, revealing that a piece she won at auction for 1.5 billion won was actually brought in from overseas for around 300 million won. She explained that paintings don't have a set price, and if someone buys it at a certain price, that price becomes its value.

Cha Woo-seok raised the possibility that if an insured artwork were intentionally burned, one could receive the full 1.5 billion won back. However, Han Seol-ah replied that art professionals would never burn genuine pieces, stating that the chairman's method was to swap out the genuine artwork and burn a forgery. Hearing this, Cha Woo-seok fell into thought.
