Scarecrow Premiere: Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon Star

ENA's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Scarecrow' has released still cuts depicting the reunion of Park Hae-soo and Lee Hee-joon and what follows, ahead of its premiere on April 20th. The drama tells the story of a detective investigating a serial murder case who unexpectedly forms a cooperative relationship with a person he despises. It depicts the pursuit of truth by two men entangled by a fated rivalry and hatred, spanning 30 years from 1988 to 2019.

The released still cuts evoke curiosity about the cooperative investigation within their 'hateful relationship' between detective Kang Tae-joo (played by Park Hae-soo) and prosecutor Cha Si-young (played by Lee Hee-joon). The two, who meet again as detective and prosecutor before resolving a past rivalry from their school days, present different arguments regarding the same case. In particular, with a prime suspect identified in the stocking murder case handled by Cha Si-young, Kang Tae-joo seeks a secret collaborator to stop Cha Si-young's solo pursuit. As the investigation, which was proceeding according to his plan, is halted, Cha Si-young's face contorted with anger and madness draws attention.

Ahead of its premiere, the production team of 'Scarecrow' stated, "Along with Kang Tae-joo's strong return, the serial murder case surfaces from the first episode," and added, "While the fated rivalry with Cha Si-young continues, similar murder cases occur one after another, heightening the tension." They also urged viewers, "Please don't miss and pay attention to the prologue and epilogue set in 2019, where the real killer appears 30 years later, as well as the 1988 setting where major events occur."

ENA's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Scarecrow' premieres tonight (the 20th) at 10 PM on ENA and can also be watched on KT Genie TV and TVING.

This drama is based on the 'Lee Chun-jae Serial Murders,' a real case, and delves deeply into the behind-the-scenes of the incident that re-ignited public interest after the real killer was revealed after 33 years. While it deals with the same case as Bong Joon-ho's film 'Memories of Murder,' it differentiates itself in its approach. Director Park Joon-woo explained, "While 'Memories of Murder' focused on the investigation before the real killer was identified, 'Scarecrow' is a story planned with the premise of the period after the real killer has been revealed."
