Korean Actor Park Dongbin Passes Away, Daughter Reveals Heart Condition

Actor Park Dong-bin passed away on the 29th at the age of 55. As news of his death spread, his past television appearances are once again drawing attention.

In 2024, Park Dong-bin appeared with his wife, Lee Sang-yi, on Channel A's variety show 'Oh Eun-young's Golden Clinic' and confessed his family history. He revealed that his daughter suffers from a congenital complex heart defect called 'hypoplastic left heart syndrome,' and her life was in danger without a heart transplant or staged surgeries. Fortunately, he stated that she had completed three staged surgeries.

Furthermore, Park Dong-bin's confession about experiencing sexual assault in his childhood evoked much sadness. He said that at the time, he didn't realize it was an assault, but after entering puberty, he understood it was sexual assault. He lived with a desire for revenge for a long time, but after having children, he felt he had to clearly speak out against wrongdoing with the thought, 'I hope my children don't go through this.' he confessed tearfully. His wife, Lee Sang-yi, was shocked to hear her husband's story for the first time, but expressed understanding, suggesting his outbursts might have been a reaction to protect himself. Dr. Oh Eun-young emphasized that such experiences greatly impact one's life and offered comfort for his courage in protecting his child.

According to the Pyeongtaek Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on the 30th, Park Dong-bin was found collapsed by an acquaintance at a restaurant in Jangan-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, around 4:25 PM the previous day. Police were dispatched but he was already deceased. The restaurant was reportedly a place Park Dong-bin was preparing to operate.
