Korean Actor Park Dong Bin's Heartbreaking Story with 3-Year-Old Daughter

Actor Park Dong-bin (real name Park Jong-moon) has suddenly passed away at the age of 56. He was found deceased in a restaurant within a commercial building in Jangan-dong, Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, around 4:25 PM on the 29th. An acquaintance discovered him and reported it to the police. Police investigations revealed no signs of foul play or a suicide note. Park Dong-bin was reportedly preparing to open a Korean restaurant at the said establishment until recently.

Park Dong-bin married actress Lee Sang-yi in 2020 and welcomed their daughter, Park Ji-yu, in January 2023 at the late age of 54 through in vitro fertilization. He appeared on Channel A's "Oh Eun Young's Golden Clinic" in 2024, expressing his deep affection for his late-born daughter and his anxieties about the future. Park Dong-bin said, "When my daughter goes to middle school, I will be 66. I worry about hurting my daughter later," revealing his profound love for her.

Notably, Park Dong-bin revealed on the broadcast that his daughter Ji-yu was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect and underwent surgery. He explained, "During my seventh month of pregnancy, she was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. It's a condition where the left ventricle and aorta don't form, leading to death without a heart transplant or staged surgeries." He added that she underwent her first surgery just four days after birth and had completed a total of three surgeries. His daughter was scheduled to undergo one more surgery around the age of three.

Following this tragic news, fellow actors and netizens have been offering their condolences for Park Dong-bin's sudden death. Messages of mourning such as "It's even more heartbreaking that he left his young daughter behind" and "I can't believe it" have been pouring in.

Park Dong-bin debuted in 1996 with the film 'The Gingko Bed' and gained recognition through numerous works including the films 'Shiri' and 'Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War.' He also appeared in dramas such as 'Yeong-ja's Heyday,' 'Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin,' and 'Dae Jo Yeong.' In particular, he earned the nickname 'Juice Ajusshi' (Juice Uncle) in 2012 for his scene of spitting orange juice in the drama 'I Loved You.'
