Netflix series 'The Boy Next Door' has confirmed its release date for June 26 and unveiled its teaser poster and trailer. This series is a six-part suspense drama that tells the story of Heo Mun-oh (Choi Min-sik), a failed writer and Korean literature professor, and Lee Kang (Choi Hyun-wook), a genius student who sits in the last row of the classroom. It depicts the process of their relationship becoming twisted as Heo Mun-oh becomes obsessed with Lee Kang's talent.

Director Kim Gyu-tae directed and Writer Jang Myung-woo wrote 'The Boy Next Door,' which is based on the Spanish play 'The Boy Next Door' (by Juan Mayorga). The teaser poster features a contrast between Heo Mun-oh's surprised expression and Lee Kang's cynical one, with torn images crossing between the two characters, overlaid with multiple sentences, hinting at the writings and stories that will unfold.

The teaser trailer begins with Heo Mun-oh, who has given up on writing, focusing on the student Lee Kang, who quietly listens to lectures from the last row of the classroom. Heo Mun-oh discovers Lee Kang's genius and offers him private literary lessons, and their relationship evolves from professor and student to a personal one mediated by writing. While Lee Kang is seen thanking Heo Mun-oh in an award acceptance speech, the mood shifts when Heo Mun-oh mutters to himself while reading Lee Kang's writing, "It's always the next one."

Heo Mun-oh senses something continuous in Lee Kang's writing, beyond just the writing itself, and expresses his frustration. The trailer also shows the two getting closer through wordplay in the middle, but tension escalates with Heo Mun-oh's question, "Is what you wrote in your assignment true?" The question remains whether the content of Lee Kang's writing is closely connected to reality.

'The Boy Next Door' is expected to explore the complex psychology arising from the frustration of being a failed writer, the daily life of a Korean literature professor, and the encounter with a genius student in a suspenseful format.
