Korean Singer Okhee's Funeral: Rose Hwa, Im Hee-sook Attend

The funeral of the late singer Ok Hui was held on the morning of the 24th at the Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall in Seoul. Prior to the funeral procession, a memorial service was conducted at 10 AM, organized by the Korea Singers Association.

The memorial service, conducted in a Christian format, began with an eulogy by Park Sang-chul, the president of the Korea Singers Association. President Park stated, "I stand here today with deep sorrow and condolences as we bid farewell to singer Ok Hui, a precious star in the music industry," adding, "All members of the Korea Singers Association were unable to contain their grief upon hearing the sad news."

President Park described Ok Hui as a "precious artist who, for a long time, accompanied Korean popular music, bringing love and emotion," and recalled, "Her beautiful voice, outstanding singing ability, and passionate dedication to music left a deep resonance within many." He further added, "She was a national memory and comfort for those who lived through an era, a companion in life, and she always offered warm advice and encouragement to her juniors, providing great lessons." He mourned, "Her songs and voice will never disappear, and singer Ok Hui's music will continue to be remembered by many."

President Park continued, "I convey my deep respect and gratitude," saying, "Thank you for gifting us joy and emotion with your songs throughout your life. Now, please let go of all worries and pain and rest in eternal peace."

Her husband, former boxing world champion Hong Soo-hwan, who was loved for their movie-like love story, also expressed his grief at losing his wife. Hong Soo-hwan began by saying, "Did I live with such a wonderful person?" and then jokingly remarked, "When you think of Ok Hui, isn't she a funny person? In reality, she didn't talk much to me. She was very active in other people's affairs, but often wouldn't say a word to me or our family all day."
